Start by entering a “Recipe Name” and a “Description” of your recipe.  Using the drop down menu choose the “Style”.  In our example, we used “American-Style Lager”.  Choose a style that matches your recipe.  Adjust the “Target Size”, “Boil Volume”, “Boil Time” and “Efficiency” to match your recipe.

Now let’s add some grains to our recipe.  Click the link to “Add” Grains (see Illustration 5) and you will see the “Grains Editor” (see Illustration 6)

For our sample recipe we are choosing 10 lbs of 2-row pale ale malt.  Use the dropdown menu to choose the grain you will be adding to your recipe and set the weight of the grains.  The weight field is in pounds so if you need to add 8 ounces, you will enter .5 into the weight.  Click “Save Grain” and it will be added to your recipe.  Repeat this process for each grain you will use in your recipe.

Now let’s add some hops to our recipe.  Click the link to “Add” Hops (see Illustration 5) and you will see the “Grains Editor” (see Illustration 7)

Now let’s add some notes to your recipe.  At the bottom of the “Edit Recipe” screen you will see the “Recipe Notes” text box (see Illustration 5)  This is a free form text box so you can add multiple lines of text.  Make sure your notes both describe your recipe and your process.

Step 3: Save Your Recipe!

The last step is to save your recipe.  This is an important step so you don’t lose all your work.  To save your recipe click the “Save Recipe” button on the bottom right hand corner of the “Edit Recipe” screen.  Once saved you can edit the recipe as many times as you like, you can print your recipe to a printer or a PDF and you can view your recipe anytime you need it.

Congratulations!  You now have a recipe stored on My Brewing Buddy.
